David Schmitt, also known as "Tuyo", is a self-taught artist and graphic designer based in Barcelona. In his work he tries to capture a timeless aspect, using organic forms, archaic symbols, and a childlike approach.
"I think I have always been drawn to a certain aspect of artisanal simplicity and storytelling in my work. There is so much beauty and truth to be found in traditional craftsmanship and old tales of folklore. I hope that we can continue to maintain our appreciation for the ancient arts and the involvement of the human hand with all its imperfections. Preserving these practices means preserving the soul in the world around us. I make use of digital tools and add artificial texture to some of my works myself, but I believe that in the end, it is the fusion of these two worlds that keeps the spirit alive."
