The Frankfurt Academy of Visual Arts is a school specializing in visual communication and design, in 2023 deciding to revamp its online and offline presence to better represent its innovative and radical nature. We developed the academy’s visual identity and website, creating a unique experience representative of its mission. Our goal was to reflect the inclusive, innovative and future-oriented approach of the Frankfurt Academy of Visual Arts, promoting creativity and learning through welcoming diversity and mistakes. rn
Founded in 1957 by Carlo Ruppert and inspired by the Bauhaus, the Academy has established both national and international connections. It brings together artists, designers, architects and various specialists to collaborate on innovative design solutions. Known for its interdisciplinary approach, the Academy emphasizes the importance of design to science, society and the economy. Its comprehensive education prepares students for global careers and encourages entrepreneurial thinking.
For the brand identity, we took an unusual approach to color, with unexpected pairings representing the diversity of individuals, activities and creations within the Academy. These pairings form color combinations outside the usual palette patterns, reflecting the variety and richness of the experiences offered by the school and the individual experiences that develop. The AVA logo consists of segments that, when joined together, make up the letters. The proximity between these segments conveys a sense of collectivity, becoming the core of the visual identity.
The website we created is a constantly updated information tool connected to social channels, with easily uploadable content that functions as an integrated social network.This allows for dynamic and immediate communication, making the site a reference point for students, faculty and designers.
